CADUET

Caduet is used to treat patients who require treatment for both high blood pressure or chest pain and high cholesterol. This medicament contains 2 medicines, amlodipine and atorvastatin.
• Atorvastatin (also known as a "statin") is in a class of drugs called HMG CoA reductase inhibitors. Atorvastatin blocks the production of cholesterol (a type of fat) in the body. It is used to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in your blood.
• Amlodipine is in a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers. Amlodipine relaxes (widens) the blood vessels (veins and arteries), making it easier for the heart to pump and reducing its workload.
• Amlodipine and atorvastatin are used together to treat high blood pressure or angina (chest pain) that occurs together with elevated levels of cholesterol or triglycerides. Reducing high blood pressure and cholesterol levels may help prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems.

SIDE EFFECTS: Side effects are similar to those reported with amlodipine and atorvastatin.
• Side effects of amlodipine may include:
Dizziness, fatigue, flushing, fluid retention and swelling, headache, palpitations (fluttery or throbbing heartbeat)
• Side effects of atorvastatin may include:
Abdominal pain, constipation, gas, indigestion.

Special information if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
Cholesterol-lowering drugs should never be used during pregnancy, since developing babies need plenty of cholesterol. In fact, your doctor is unlikely to prescribe these kind of medications if there is even a chance that you may become pregnant. If you do conceive while taking Caduet, notify your doctor right away.
